Caliper Microfluidics

Applications include

  • High thoughput screening
  • Dermination of enzyme:inhibitor association and dissociation rate constants

Microfluidic lab-on-a-chip technology incorporates the benefits of miniaturization, integration and automation to many research applications. Microfluidic chips are the key components of the LabChip® system, which also include experiment-specific reagents and software. The chips contain a network of miniaturized, microfabricated channels, containing channels through which fluids and chemicals are moved to perform experiments. The instrument and software control the movement of fluids via pressure or voltage, and an integrated optical system detects the results of the particular experiment. Through flexibility in channel design and computer control over fluid flow, chips can be created for a multitude of applications. LabChip® systems provide the benefits of improved data accuracy and reproducibility, reduced cost and higher speed, leading to increased capability and improved productivity.

The Confluence Discovery Technologies team is highly experienced in the use of Caliper Microfluidics technology. The technology has been applied to execute several high thoughput screens of various kinase, PDE, and HDAC targets against libraries of small molecule inhibitors. Additionally, the assay format was utilized for experiments to characterize the mechanism of enzyme inhibition and determination of enzyme:inhibitor association and dissociation rate constants. Confluence has two LC-3000 instruments available to perform your scientific studies.
